Nansemond River’s girls’ basketball team dominated Gloucester in a 62-25 in a Conference 10 matchup Wednesday evening.
The Lady Warriors had no issues moving past a Lady Dukes team that was outmatched on the road. With the 44-point win, the Lady Warriors scored their ninth victory.
Briana Autrey led the way with 17 points, seven assists, seven steals and five rebounds. Cassidy Simmons added 10 points.
“We played very well,” Autrey said. “We could have done better doing things like making easy layups and free throws. The ball movement we had was probably our best all season.”
Nansemond River bounced back well after taking a two-point loss to Warwick High School Saturday at the King’s Fork Showcase.
Lady Warriors coach R. Calvin Mason Sr. said there were some things the Lady Warriors were trying to iron out, and they did a good job of that Wednesday night.
“I felt we were better,” Mason said. “Our execution had been better than it has the past couple of weeks, offensively. We didn’t execute well last Saturday. This was a good game for us to work on some things.”
Next for the Lady Warriors will be a road Conference 10 game against Bethel High School on Friday at 7 p.m.
