In the second quarter, the Warriors once again scored two field goals and only took six shots. At halftime, the Warriors were down 33-16 at the half shooting 4-12 from the field. Bethel had more field goals made than the Warriors had taken at the halftime mark.

Nansemond River won their only quarter of the game in the third quarter; they outscored the Bruins 13-10. Despite a solid third quarter effort, the Warriors were down 43-29 at the end of three quarters of play. A 17-point fourth quarter by Bethel resulted in a 20-point loss for the Warriors.

“Coming in, we knew we had to play well,” Warriors coach Ed Young said. “They’re a good team, and we needed firepower, and we didn’t have it Friday night. We competed well like we were supposed to. We could have laid down and we didn’t.”

The Warriors were outrebounded on the night 37-19. Josh Hale led the way with 10 points for the Warriors. After scoring in double figures Wednesday night, Jeremiah Lewis and Gerard Stringer combined for three points on Friday night against Bethel. Cam Bacote had 19 points for the Bruins, and Dejour Dickens had 22 points and 15 rebounds.

The losing streak for the Warriors extends to 11, and it now puts them at 1-14 on the season. Due to school exam week, the Warriors won’t play again until Friday.

“We need to fix our little mistakes, give our bodies the necessary rest and get back to the drawing board,” Hale said. “We have a tough Hampton team coming up next.”

Next Nansemond River will play Hampton High School on the road Friday at 7:15 p.m.
