Worker injured in industrial accident

A worker at Suffolk Recycling was taken to the hospital with serious injuries following an industrial accident on Thursday afternoon.

The adult male employee was at the facility unloading a vehicle from a flatbed truck when the vehicle slid from the truck, pinning the man on the ground, according to a city press release. The incident happened about 1:25 p.m.

The victim’s coworkers were able to lift the vehicle to remove the man, according to the release.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue personnel provided emergency medical assessment and treatment, and the man was transported by ground ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries, according to the release.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified, according to the release, and the investigation remains ongoing.
