Annie Jo Rees, 81, of Indianapolis, Ind., passed away Jan. 24, 2017. She was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Nansemond County, the daughter of John and Josephine Jory. She was the beloved wife of Lester Rees for 59 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John Jory and Gordon Jory.

She is survived by her husband, Lester; children, Paula Simmons (Larry), Daniel Rees (Shelley), Alan Rees (Marie); grandchildren, Brandon, Dallas, Loren, Ryan, Tyler, Dustin, Cody, Brandi, Breeana, Crystal and Casey; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Schreyer; brother, Harrell Jory; and other extended family.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 4, 2017, at Indiana Memorial, 3562 W. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46222. A memorial service will be held in Virginia this spring.
