Warriors fall in conference matchup

Nansemond River High School fell to Kecoughtan High School Tuesday night by the score of 67-50.

Nansemond River’s boys’ basketball team remains winless in Conference 10 play as Kecoughtan pulled out a road victory in Suffolk Tuesday night. After the first quarter of play, Nansemond River was down 18-15. At halftime, Nansemond River remained close, as the team went into halftime down 33-30.

A huge second half by Kecoughtan pushed them to victory. They outscored Nansemond River 34-20. After shooting 49 percent in the first half, Nansemond River’s shooting percentage dropped to 25 percent in the second half. Dy’Quan McGhee and Jeremiah Lewis led in scoring for Nansemond River with 11 points each.

Nansemond River will play First Colonial at home Thursday at 7:45 p.m. It will also be senior night, as the Warriors will recognize their three seniors.
