Marjorie H. Baird passed peacefully on January 21, 2017. She was 91.

Born in Southampton County, she resided most of her life in Portsmouth.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles E. Baird, and by her parents and siblings. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Dewey (husband Edward), Charlene Valenzuela and Judy Fisher (husband Chip), three grandchildren, Lorrin Valenzuela, James Lego and Brian Lego, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She gave up her bookkeeping career to become a loving wife and mother. As a military spouse, she was active in the Navy Wives Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and attended West Park Church of Christ. She enjoyed bowling, singing and dancing. Her fun-loving way of life was infectious to those who knew her.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Sturtevant Funeral Home is handling arrangements. More information may be found at www.sturtevant@sfhva.com.
