The board of directors of the Suffolk Art League has announced the availability of student scholarships for the 2017-2018 school year.

Two different scholarships are available.

  • The Sharon Picot and Chip Picot Memorial Student Scholarship offers up to $2,600 in scholarship funds, usually to multiple awardees, to students entering grades 6 to 12 in the 2017-2018 school year. They may use their funding to pursue their interest in the visual, literary or performing arts by using it to take lessons, purchase materials, instruments or equipment, or attend workshops or conferences.
  • The John R. Taylor Jr. Memorial Student Scholarship for Visual Arts is available to students entering grades 6 to 12 in the 2017-2018 school year. Up to $200 is available, which can be used to take classes or lessons or purchase materials or equipment. It is available for students pursuing the visual arts only.

The deadline to apply for both scholarships is April 20. Applications must include a completed application form, a brief essay written by the student, and a recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or other knowledgeable person.
