Harvey W. Griggs, 84, left his earthly life to join his wife amongst the angels on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017. He was born on Nov. 15, 1932, to Richard W. and Martha M. Griggs. Harvey was predeceased in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Joyce; sister, Versenia; brothers, R.L., Aubrey and Jack; granddaughter, Amy; and grandson, Michael. He is survived by his sons, D. Barry (Liz), Terry (Virginia), H. Dennis (Kelly); daughters, Ivy, Cheryl and Jean; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Roland; sisters, Martha, Bee (Jim), Joyce (Jerry) and Anita; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was a man with a heart of gold and was loved by anyone who spent time with him. He loved to hunt, to fish and to play his guitar, and he could cook his “butt” off, but most of all he loved his family more than anything else in the world. He will be missed by all.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Don Milner officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Saturday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
