Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
Amesha Miller, senior, for King’s Fork High School’s girls’ basketball: Miller had 24 points in a Lady Bulldogs win over Lake Taylor on Monday. She then had 20 points in a win over Wilson on Wednesday. The win helped King’s Fork become the Conference 17 regular-season champions and gave them an automatic regional bid.
Cassidy Simmons, senior, for Nansemond River High School’s girls’ basketball Simmons had 15 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Menchville High School on Tuesday. Then she had 15 points, five rebounds and five assists to help the Lady Warriors to a 53-24 win over Warwick High School on Thursday. That win solidified Nansemond River as Conference 10 champs, giving the team a slot in the regionals.
