LaDariah Boone will be participating in the Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and Essence Magazine, where 100 high-school students from across the country will get inspired to dream big.

“I wanted to learn how to effectively achieve my goals,” Boone said of why she decided to apply to the academy.

Boone is an International Baccalaureate student at King’s Fork, tutors other students and is participating in tennis conditioning. She enjoys reading, writing, creating art and listening to music.

Her goal is to attend Johns Hopkins University, become a pediatrician and own her practice, she said.

“I love kids, and I like knowing how the body works,” she said.

The Disney Dreamers Academy will take place March 9-12 in Orlando, Fla. Students will be participating in a series of sessions and workshops and learning from top celebrities, community and industry leaders and Disney cast members. Students will develop skills such as networking and interviewing and participate in career sessions including medicine as well as animation, entertainment, entrepreneurship and others.

While at the Disney Dreamers Academy, Boone will have the chance to have a little bit of fun at Disney World. She has been there before and says her favorite parts are the shops and seeing the Disney characters dressed up.

She’s looking forward to her trip, Boone said.

“I think it’s going to bring me out of my comfort zone a little bit and expose me to new things,” Boone said.
