Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

  • Deondre Little, junior for Lakeland High School track and field: Little broke a 3A East regional meet record in the 300-meter dash with a time of 35.52. He also was a part of the 4×200 team that took first place and also helped Lakeland’s boys’ track team become 3A-East regional champions. He also placed fourth in the 55-meter dash.
  • Nic Psimas, sophomore for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy swimming: Psimas has qualified for all his individual events in the state meet for NSA, though he is only allowed to compete in two events. He qualified for states in the 200IM last week in the TCIS swim meet.
  • Dia Gray, senior for Nansemond River High School wrestling: Gray won the 5A-South regional championship in the 285 class. He will have an opportunity to become a state champion at the 5A-South class.
