Kent Jules Weber

Kent “Curly” Jules Weber passed away Feb. 24, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Amelia Weber, and survived by his son, Gregg Weber (Kathy); granddaughter, Megan Duke (Cory), great-granddaughter, Addison; brother, Don Weber (Pat); sister, Grace Maskell (Rich); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kent was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Aug. 2, 1923. He spent his childhood there before enlisting in the United States Navy. He graduated from the U.S Naval Academy in 1946 (Class of 47). He retired as commander after 32 years in 1972. He was the founding executive director of Tidewater Emergency Medical Services Council Inc. Since then, he has served on the board of directors, various committees and as treasurer, retiring at the end of 2016. He also served on the Governor’s EMS Advisory Board for many years. An Eagle Scout, he was active in various adult leadership positions and served as a camp visitation specialist for several years. Kent was a Rotarian, who became a Paul Harris Fellow in 1984 with more than 40 years of perfect attendance. He is a life member of the Naval Academy Alumni Association and The Retired Officers Association. He was also a member of Lynnhaven Colony Congregational Church of Christ.

A reception will be held at his home for family and friends, Saturday, March 4, from 1 to 3 pm. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to TEMS: Kent J.
