A crash on Carolina Road Wednesday afternoon sent two people to the hospital with injuries.
The wreck was reported at 2:30 p.m., according to a city press release. It happened in the 4200 block of Carolina Road and involved a city heavy-duty truck hauling a trailer as well as a Honda SUV.
Preliminary investigation found the city vehicle had stopped in the roadway and was struck from behind by the SUV, which resulted in the SUV traveling up onto the trailer and then flipping over and landing on its roof, according to the press release.
The driver and passenger of the city vehicle were taken by ground ambulance to Sentara Obici Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The adult female driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries but did not require medical transport. She was issued a summons for reckless driving, according to the release.
The road was closed as the accident was cleared, and traffic was detoured onto White Marsh Road.
