F.A. “Mac” McCartney, 76, passed away on March 14, 2017. He was the son of the late Harzzel and Edith McCartney.

“Mac” was a detective with the city of Norfolk and Nansemond County. He retired as a postal supervisor from the Suffolk post office in 1997.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lisa I. McCartney; his sons, Charles Brian McCartney (Natasha), of Fayetteville, N.C., and Ronald Hensley II, of Branchville; his daughter, Dawn Hayes (Chad), of Newsoms; six granddaughters, Emily, Samantha, Madison, Caroline, Rebecca and Alyssa; four grandsons, E. ZZ. II, Bryce, Ian and Cody; along with a great-grandson, Tucker.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 25280 New Market Road, Courtland, VA 23837 with the Rev. Dennis Buchholz officiating. A reception will be held after the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
