Teachers don’t ‘just deal with it’

To the editor:

We have heard the School Board tell us to pull up our big girl’s and big boy’s britches and move on.

My sister is a teacher at John Yeates Middle School. Her husband had a stroke eight years ago. She wakes up every morning at 5:30 a.m. and gets him dressed, puts his brace on and then tries to get ready herself. Her husband also cannot speak.

She then goes to school. She teaches disrespectful students, deals with their parents and gets no support from the staff or the administration.

Then she comes home, cooks, grades papers and bathes her husband.

I am so happy that David Mitnick has an amazing life, and I pray he is never in this situation, in which someone tells him to just deal with it.
