Our beloved​ mother, Earthell Everett, 97, transitioned​ home peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at the home of her son, in Huntsville, Ala. She was born in Aiken, S.C., to the late Elizabeth Montaque and James Riley. In 1949, she married the late John Lee Everett Jr., of Suffolk. To this union were born three children, the late Harold Lee Everett, John Lee Everett III and Janet Elizabeth Everett Patterson. They lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., more than 35 years, where Earthell was a licensed practical nurse. After retirement, they relocated to Suffolk. While living in Suffolk, Earthell attended and was ordained as a deacon at the Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ. She was also involved in civic and community organizations. She enjoyed reading and studying God’s Word.

Earthell is survived by her son, John Lee Everett III; daughter, Janet Elizabeth Everett Patterson (Floyd); grandchildren, London Womack (Kevin), Stephanie Everett, John Lee Everett IV (Melanie), Tiffaney Everett; great-grandchildren, Kevin Womack, Cameron Womack, Paris Everett, Shayla Louis and Shiloh Everett. Earthell will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at noon at the Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ, 7945 Corinth Chapel Road, in Suffolk. The committal and benediction will be in Sumner Family Cemetery. A traditional service with dignity by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 224 S.
