Doris E. “Dot” McClenny, 82, of Suffolk, transitioned Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Isle of Wight and the daughter of the late Willis L. Edwards Sr. and Georgie Mae Edwards. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis L. Edwards Jr. and Wilbur L. Edwards.

She was formerly employed as a domestic engineer at Gwaltney Meat Packing Plant and Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Doris Elaine Franklin (Alton), of Suffolk, Gayle O. Edwards, of Virginia Beach, and Alecia A. Britt (Tracy), of Hertford, N.C.; three sons, Horace L. McClenny Jr. (Rhonda), of Portsmouth, Robert E. McClenny (Vicki), of Portsmouth, and Gregory L. McClenny, of Newport News; 14 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary A. Warren, of Ivor, Easter M. Edwards, of Chesapeake, Jeanette Brown (Eugene), of Suffolk, Mary Parson (Zelna), of Ivor, and Patricia Eley, of Newport News; brothers-in-law, Boussean McClenny (Esther), of Florence, S.C., Royal Eley Jr. (Mattie), of Suffolk, James Eley (Carrie), of Pasadena, Calif., and Carlton Eley, of South Carolina; cousins, Maurice Black, of Smithfield, and Clayborne Black, of Baltimore, Md.; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 900 Firetower Road, Windsor, officiated by the Rev. Larry Simmons Sr. Interment will be in Shiloh Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Alton and Elaine Franklin, 219 Holbrook Arch, Suffolk. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
