Floyd T. Barnes, 84, passed away Sunday, March 26, at Sentara Obici Hospital.

He was the son of the late John M. and Donnie Langston Barnes. He was born in Nansemond County and retired from Pierce Tire Company. He was a master carpenter all his life.

Floyd was preceded in death by his two sons, Floyd Barnes Jr. and Jeffrey Barnes; grandson, Kesaun Barnes; sister, Clara Parker and Herbert James “Ray” Barnes.

Floyd leaves to cherish his memory eight sons, five daughters and 141 grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Shirley Moore, of Portsmouth, and Brenda Barnes, of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A wake will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home, 685 Carolina Road. A funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gates of Heaven Church of God in Christ, 112 Beech St.

The Barnes family will receive family and friends at 1757 Mill Wood Way, Suffolk, VA 23434.
