Charlie Richardson Jr., 76, of 409 S. Sixth St., Suffolk, transitioned Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Charlie Richardson Sr. and Florence Owens. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Smith.

He was self-employed and retired from BFI Trucking Company after 35 years. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, former usher and member of the male choir.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Christine Richardson; three daughters, Marlene Miles (Milton), of Texas, Patricia Edwards and Angele Hillard (Monte), both of Suffolk; four sons, Antonio Richardson, Earnest Edwards III and Steven Edwards, all of Suffolk, and Keath Marshall (Carolyn), of Converse, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at New Hope Baptist Church officiated by Dr. William Russell. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
