Calvin “Barney” Porter was born on Nov. 23, 1952, in Suffolk, and entered into eternal slumber on Friday, April 14, 2017.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Paulette M. Porter; daughter, Danyail Porter- Beale (Dameon); stepdaughters, Paula Scott, Josella Grandison (Danny) and Tona Scott; brother, Johnnie L. Brown; sister-in-law, Bernice Dixon (Earnest); brother-in-law, Larry Massenburg; and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Porter’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at 205 Walnut St., Suffolk. A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Saturday at the funeral home chapel, and the procession will leave from 111 Carver Ave., Suffolk, at 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
