Pastor William Donnell Wiggins Sr., 58, of Gates, N.C., transitioned Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was the son of the late George and Mamie Wiggins.

He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School class of 1977 and also of Roanoke Theological College. He was currently employed as a shipfitter with Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was the senior pastor of Joppa Missionary Baptist Church in Hobbsville, N.C.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary D. Wiggins, of Gates, N.C.; two daughters, Kimberly W. Johnson (Elmore), of Gates, N.C., and Vicki Wiggins, of Greensboro, N.C.; son, the Rev. William D. Wiggins Jr. (Heather), of Hampton; two sisters, Jean Riddick and Sylvia Wiggins, both of Suffolk; three brothers, Thomas Wiggins (Beulah), Clifton Jones and Leon Wiggins (Cheryl), of Suffolk; six grandchildren; aunt, Margaret Boone, of Gates; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Joppa Missionary Baptist Church, 1271 Acorn Hill Road, Hobbsville, NC 27946. The Rev. William D. Wiggins Jr. will deliver the eulogy. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Condolences to the Wiggins family may be extended to www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
