One hospitalized after crash

One man was hospitalized after a crash Saturday morning on North Main Street.

The accident was reported at 9:06 a.m. in the 2100 block of North Main Street. It involved a Kia minivan and a Ford Mustang.

Officers determined the minivan was traveling southbound on North Main Street when it struck a Ford Mustang leaving the 7-Eleven store, according to a city press release.

The driver of the Mustang was pinned inside his vehicle for several minutes until firefighters were able to pry the door open. The driver was taken by ground ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with injuries considered serious but non-life threatening, according to the release.

A passenger in the Mustang was not injured. The driver of the minivan refused treatment and transport.

North Main Street was closed in both directions for a brief period of time until an officer began to alternate traffic on the southbound side of the roadway. The roadway was completely reopened after about 30 minutes.

The driver of the Mustang was ticketed for failure to yield, according to the release.
