Leroy “Pete” Copeland Jr., of Gates, N.C., gained his wings April 30, 2017. He was born April 10, 1962, to Leroy and Margie Copeland. He is predeceased by his father, Leroy Copeland; his older brother, Jimmy Copeland; and special brother-in-law, Craig Chappell.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Margie Copeland; sisters, Sally Headrick (David), Virginia Hunnicutt (Jim), Judy Chappell and Bernice Creekmore (Bill); brother, George Copeland (Trisha); 11 nieces and nephews; and 9 great-nieces and -nephews. He loved gardening and his flowers.

A funeral will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Ray Hampton officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a visitation on Wednesday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Fly high free bird. You will forever be in our hearts.
