Cohen graduates

Angelita Cohen graduated from Norfolk State University on Saturday, May 6, during the historic 100th commencement ceremony. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with cum laude honors.

Malette graduates

Marilyn Dowdy, Anthony Malette and Mr. and Mrs. John H. Dowdy Sr., of Suffolk, announce the graduation of their daughter and granddaughter, Tiara Marie Malette, from Old Dominion University with honors. She received a Bachelor of Science

Malette

degree in finance, with a minor in business analytics. While attending ODU, she was a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda National Honors Organization and served on the executive boards of several organizations. The graduation ceremony took place at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk. Malette is a 2013 graduate of Lakeland High School and 2015 graduate of Tidewater Community College.

Wade receives award at convocation

Students, faculty, staff, and friends of Mary Baldwin College gathered inside Francis Auditorium on March 30, 2017, for Honors Convocation, a ceremony to recognize student academic achievement.

Lashae Wade, of Suffolk, received the Mary Baldwin Jane Addams Social Work Award. This award is given to an outstanding student in the social work department. It is named in honor of Jane Addams, the first American woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, founder of the Settlement House Movement, a mover and shaker in the areas of labor reform, and a charter member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
