Mr. Joe Henry Lewis Sr., also known as “Sloppy,” of 506 S. Broad St., departed this earthly life on May 7, 2017, in Sentara Obici Hospital.

He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Mabel Harrell Lewis. He is survived by his three sons, Joe H. Lewis Jr., (Annetta), of Germany, James W. Lewis (Emma), of Norfolk, and Alphonso Lewis (Lenora), of Suffolk; one daughter, Gwen Debree, of Suffolk; and one sister, Mabel Madison, of Suffolk; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home has been entrusted with the home going service. You may send condolences to the family at www.vharrisfuneralhome.com.
