Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Thursday night at a North Main Street convenience store and are probing a possible connection between an early-morning robbery on West Washington Street.
The 7-Eleven in the 2100 block of North Main Street was robbed Thursday just before 9:35 p.m., according to a city press release.
A man entered the business, displayed a knife and took an undetermined amount of currency from a register, according to the press release. He fled on foot immediately following the incident.
The man was described as a white or very light-skinned black man, approximately 6 feet tall, with a slender build, a red scarf covering his face and black gloves.
City spokeswoman Diana Klink said it could be related to the robbery of the Circle K convenience store about 1 a.m. Thursday in the 800 block of West Washington Street.
The suspect in that robbery also used a knife and had similar descriptions of height and skin tone.
“Based on the similarities of the subject description, these incidents could be related,” Klink stated.
The investigation into both robberies remains ongoing. No surveillance footage is currently available.
