No excuse for late mail delivery

To the editor:

I don’t know who gets their mail early, but I know who gets it late, or not at all.

The residents of Sleepy Lake are used to late — between 4 and 5 p.m. — deliveries.

On May 4, there was no mail delivery at all, and that was not the first time this has happened. Some nights in the winter, the mail was delivered after dark.

No one answers the phone at the local post office, only at the main number. I can’t call Washington, for they would argue whose fault it is.

I guess an agency of the U.S. government that loses money every year finds it all right to miss delivery every now and then.

I don’t!
