Nansemond-Suffolk Academy’s softball team represented well in the recent Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools awards.

The Lady Saints are in the midst of a phenomenal season. With that said, it was only right that they were represented well on the All-Conference teams.

NSA Junior Emerson Puzey was awarded the Player of The Year award, and Brittany Thornburg was named Coach of The Year.

Puzey has been great on the mound and at the plate for the Lady Saints. She said she is honored to receive the award. Puzey knew she was potentially having a good season but didn’t think too much about it.

“I realized that this was one of the best seasons I’ve pitched in my softball career,” she said. “It is also my most successful year hitting, as well.”

Madison Currin, Addy Greene and Madi Wilson join Puzey on the TCIS first team. Reese Byrd, Gabby Infranco and Delaney Taylor were named to the second team.

NSA holds a record of 20-2 and went undefeated in TCIS play. The Lady Saints were ranked no lower than second at any point this season in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association polls.

NSA will face Greenbrier Christian Academy at home tomorrow for the TCIS championship. The game was rescheduled from Friday because of the weather. The game is set for 4:30 p.m.
