Four charged in robberies

Suffolk police have arrested four area residents and charged them with a number of felonies relating to two robberies that happened last Thursday.

Brian Wayne/Douglas Barrett, 23, of Franklin, and Kyle Nicolas Topping, 21, of Zuni, have been charged with two counts each of robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony and wearing a mask to conceal identity. They are being held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Alexandria Alexis Brown, 22, of Franklin, and Emily Joan Matos, 22, of Suffolk, are each charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony. They also are being held at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

The robberies happened Thursday at the Circle K convenience store in the 800 block of West Washington Street and the 7-Eleven in the 2100 block of North Main Street.

The Circle K was robbed about 1 a.m., while the 7-Eleven was robbed about 9:35 p.m.

In each case, a man entered the business, displayed a knife and took currency from the register.
