King’s Fork High School’s girls’ soccer team won the Conference 17 tournament title after defeating Great Bridge High School Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs pulled off the 7-0 defeat with a huge game out of senior Cydney Nichols, who had four goals and two assists. The Lady Bulldogs had already secured a 4A East regional tournament bid after winning the regular season. However, now King’s Fork is the regular season and conference tournament champions for the first time under coach Mike Marston.

“We have been playing pretty well,” Lady Bulldogs coach Mike Marston said. “We have managed to be able to clean up some things.”

King’s Fork finished its Conference 17 play with no losses. They also have the conference Player of the Year in Nichols. Marston was also part of the KFHS representation, as he was named Conference 17 coach of the year. They also had nine players represented on the all-conference teams.

Ashley Bido, Nia Nickerson, Jordan Fransee and Hannah Marston were a part of the first team. Rebeca Washburn, Skylar Wall and Paige Summers also made the first team. Alyssa Vick, Stazia Davis and Bella Cox were a part of the second team.

The Lady Bulldogs have built some momentum and are excited about their opportunity to play in the regional tournament.

“It is a very special moment for all of us,” Nichols said. “For me as a senior and for the rest of the seniors it’s been incredible to be a part of two back-to-back seasons like this. Every single person on our team has worked hard from day one, and it has shown.”
