Eunice Rountree Whitley, 81, went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2017. She was the daughter of late Edith Hayes and Gerald C. Rountree and was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, James Lee Whitley, and by her brothers, Vernon Kirkman Rountree, James Edward Rountree and Thomas Earl Rountree.

Eunice was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church, and member of the Faith Seekers Sunday School Class. She retired from Lipton Tea with 31 years of service. She worked for a number of years at Denison’s.

She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Whitley Rawls, and husband, the Rev. Timothy W. Rawls; granddaughter, Meaghan Elizabeth Rawls, and grandson, Jacob Whitley Rawls; brothers, Wilbur C. Rountree and Bobby Hayes Rountree, all of Suffolk; sister, Geraldine Rountree, of Georgia.

A funeral will be conducted by her son-in-law, the Rev. Timothy W. Rawls, on June 2, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434, followed by a burial at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 1, 2017, from 7 to 8 p.m., and other times at the home of Darlene and Tim Rawls.
