A Suffolk man has been arrested in a shooting that took place in the 900 block of Kilby Avenue on Saturday.

Gary Eley, 21, was located at the crime scene and has been charged with felony reckless handling of a firearm. He posted bond and was released from custody.

The 18-year-old victim was been transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what authorities say appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

The victim was flown to Norfolk via Nightingale helicopter following assessment and treatment of his injuries at the scene by personnel from Suffolk Fire and Rescue, according to a city press release.

Police were called to the 900 block of Brook Avenue at 12:32 p.m., Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink stated in the release. A preliminary investigation led them to the 900 block of Kilby Avenue, where they found the suspect and the crime scene.

The incident is under investigation.
