Ski club plans big event in Eure

The Beaver Lake Ski Club will hold the Beaver Lake Pro Am Water Ski and Night Jump June 17 and 18 at Beaver Lake in Eure, N.C.

The daytime competition will be a Pro-Am format in all three events to allow national and world records to be set while also welcoming amateur skiers.

The highlight of the weekend — a head-to-head Slalom competition leading into a thrilling Night Jump event — will start at about 7 p.m. Sarturday

Beaver Lake will light up the lake to accommodate a night-jumping event that is fast becoming the most exciting spectator attraction in competitive water skiing. The evening festivities will also feature barefoot and jumping exhibitions.

The Slalom, Trick and Jump competition will start at 8 a.m. Saturday morning and conclude by 5 p.m., allowing time to switch over to night mode and a festive atmosphere for all to enjoy opening at 6:30.

There will be food and beverage concessions for the day and night events. There will also be a DJ playing music for the fans. Slalom competition will continue on Sunday starting at 8:30 am.

Beaver Lake is located on Highway 13/158, about two miles north of the Chowan River Bridge.

Admission is free, and swimming is allowed.
