Nansemond River High School track and field senior Karah Foster has signed to continue her career at Radford University.
Foster adds to the list of past and present Team WAR members who will be blazing the track at the next level.
As most recruiting processes go, it was a bit complicated for Foster. After all, it is an important decision.
“I had a lot of schools on my list that I wanted to attend and run track for,” Foster said. “I also needed to make sure that I met the recruiting standards. I wanted to ensure the school was a good fit for me that included a strong track program and major.”
The NRHS senior will major in nutrition. When Foster went on her visit, she felt their track team was family. She also felt Radford’s track program had some of the values Nansemond River coach Justin Byron has instilled in her.
Her family supported her through her whole recruiting process. They encouraged the senior to make a vision board to help decide where she felt most comfortable.
Foster is happy with the way her senior year has gone, and she feels she has improved from her junior season.
She had goals this year to graduate with honors and execute her races each time she stepped on the track. Foster reached all of her goals.
She will focus primarily on the 400-meter dash in her first year at Radford. Her two main goals for her freshman year will be to maintain a strong grade point average and improve her times on the track.
Foster and team WAR are currently preparing for nationals. The senior has plans to make her last track meet special.
