Artis earns master’s degree

Crystal Artis received her Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling from Regent University in May.

She is the daughter of the late Jackie Artis and Donnell Harris of Suffolk.

 

Malette graduates from ODU

Marilyn Dowdy, Anthony Malette and Mr. and Mrs. John H. Dowdy Sr. of Suffolk, announce the graduation of their daughter and granddaughter, Tiara Marie Malette from Old Dominion University with honors.

She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in finance, with a minor in business analytics.

While attending ODU, she was a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda National Honors Organization and served on the executive boards of several organizations.

Malette is a 2013 graduate of Lakeland High School and 2015 graduate of Tidewater Community College.

 

Houston earns degree, honors

Victoria Nicole Houston has earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing and management from Baylor University in Texas.

Houston was also named to the school’s dean’s list for the 2017 spring semester in the Hankamer School of Business.

To be named to the dean’s list, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

 

Nine from Suffolk graduate from JMU

The following Suffolk students graduated this spring from James Madison University:

Jason Atkinson, who graduated with a degree in psychology;

Stuart Brazil, who graduated with a degree in media arts and design;

Daniel Clark, who graduated with a degree in communication studies;

Tucker Firnstahl, who graduated with a degree in engineering;

Chasby Hanger, who graduated with a degree in interdisciplinary liberal studies;

Lindsey Hunter, who graduated with a degree in health sciences;

Travis Low, who graduated with a degree in music;

Parker Lutz, who graduated with a degree in marketing;

And Zachary Taves, who graduated with a degree in computer science.

 

Five named to dean’s list at William & Mary

Five Suffolk residents were recently named to the dean’s list at the College of William & Mary for the spring 2017 semester.

Achieving the academic distinction were Sara Barlow, Amelia Corl, Logan Flurry, Clara Rosier and Kendall Weber.

In order to achieve dean’s list status, a full-time degree seeking undergraduate student must take at least 12 credit hours and earn a 3.6 Quality Point Average during the semester.

 

Gallagher earns graduate degree from JMU

Danielle Aleksandra Gallagher of Suffolk graduated with a degree in college student personnel administration (Med) from The Graduate School at James Madison University during the May 4 graduate school commencement exercises.

Gallagher was among more than 450 students who received master’s, educational specialist and doctoral degrees.

 

Waters named to GSU dean’s list

Kanika Waters of Suffolk was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2017 semester at Georgia State University in Atlanta.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, degree-seeking students with a minimum Georgia State cumulative GPA of 2.0 must earn a 3.5 GPA for the semester and complete at least nine semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

 

JMU names dean’s, president’s lists

James Madison University has announced that the following Suffolk students made the dean’s list for the spring 2017 semester.

Alexis Korahaes, who is majoring in social work and is scheduled to graduate in 2018;

Roneka Spady, who is majoring in public policy and administration and is scheduled to graduate in 2017;

Bonnie Nicholson, who is majoring in marketing and is scheduled to graduate in 2019;

Katina Robinson, who is majoring in marketing and is scheduled to graduate in 2017;

Vincent Ambrosino, who is majoring in management and is scheduled to graduate in 2019;

Chasby Hanger, who is majoring in interdisciplinary liberal studies and is scheduled to graduate in 2017;

Alexis Metzgar, who is majoring in hospitality management and is scheduled to graduate in 2017;

Curtis Oliver, who is majoring in hospitality management and is scheduled to graduate in 2017;

Macy Mears, who is majoring in finance and is scheduled to graduate in 2017;

Jennifer Rockwell, who is majoring in computer science and is scheduled to graduate in 2019;

And Edward Marshall, who is majoring in athletic training and is scheduled to graduate in 2018;

Jeremy Hodgkiss, who is majoring in quantitative finance and who is scheduled to graduate in 2017;

Madison Norton, who is majoring in nursing and who is scheduled to graduate in 2018;

William Raines, who is majoring in industrial design and who is scheduled to graduate in 2019;

Breanna Barbeau, who is majoring in health sciences and who is scheduled to graduate in 2017;

And Preston Firnstahl, who is majoring in biology and who is scheduled to graduate in 2017.
