Civic league names new president

The Saratoga-Philadelphia Civic League has announced a new president, Vickey Parrish.
Parrish was voted by members of the civic league. She takes over from the late former president, Wayne Mitchell.
Parrish is a former bus driver and teacher assistant for Suffolk Public Schools. She attended Paul D. Camp Community College, where she received Certificates I and II in child care; palmist and mediation services, conflict resolution and mediation skill certificate.
Her volunteer activities have included former King’s Kids of America site coordinator, baseball coach and bus driver, rescue squad member and a seamstress for the Lakeland High School band.
Her goals for the civic league include implementing strategies to unite the community, ensuring that residents of all ages are included and encouraged to participate and implementing programs that are designed to meet the needs of the residents educationally, economically, socially and physically.
The civic league meets at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at Lakeview Baptist Church, 635 Brook Ave. Call Parrish at 809-1628 for more information on the civic league.
