Nansemond-Suffolk Academy’s lacrosse team had two players make the VISAA Division II All-State teams.

Tanner Jackson and Garrett Leicester were both named to the VISAA Division II first team All-State. The honors represent a solid season for NSA lacrosse this season. NSA finished with a record of 10-6 this year and was consistently ranked among the top 10 teams this season in the VISAA Division II poll. In 2016, NSA had only one representative on the lacrosse All-State teams.

NSA’s season ended after a loss to Virginia Episcopal School in the VISAA state semifinals. Both seniors were a big part of the Saints’ success. Saints coach T.W. Johnson spoke all season long about how the senior leadership on the team was important and was going to be a big part of what the Saints did.

After a Senior Day win for NSA over Hampton Roads Academy back on May 2, a day on which Leicester had four goals, both he and Jackson were recognized. “They have really been a good group of guys,” Johnson said of his seniors. “They were a tight knit group that helped us excel into the post season. That’s a credit to those guys and how good of a group they are.”

Jackson’s best game came in the season finale against Christchurch School, in which he scored five goals in a Saints win.
