A 144-apartment complex on Bridge Road will soon break ground, according to the project manager.
Plans for the Bennett’s Creek Commons project are 95 percent complete as of Tuesday, and ground-breaking on the 18-acre site is expected to take place in the next 30 to 45 days at 3345 Bridge Road.
“All of our concentration has been getting our financing, and we should be closing that in the next two to three weeks,” said project manager Sam Cohen.
Hoy Construction has been selected for the project, which will take 15 to 18 months to complete, Cohen said.
The complex was approved by City Council more than two years ago after contentious discussion and concerns from nearby neighbors, such as the appearance of three-story buildings on Bridge Road.
That concern was addressed by relocating the planned three-story apartment buildings farther back on the site, and putting a one-story building with 36 garages along Bridge Road.
Three buildings at the back of the site will have a water view, and the development will include a pool and a clubhouse with a gym.
“This project is going to generate a lot of tax dollars and a lot of revenue along that corridor,” Cohen said.
Another seven-unit commercial building will be constructed as part of the Bennett’s Creek Commons project, and an outparcel also is available on the site for another occupant.
“Everybody along that corridor is going to benefit from it,” Cohen said.
