Congratulations to Chowan grads

Law enforcement is a field that’s in high demand these days, and brave, talented, service-minded individuals are needed to help fill the positions that are coming available.
At the federal level, especially, where crime seems to be getting more serious, more sinister and more insidious by the day, thousands of law enforcement officials are needed every day to join the military in keeping our country safe.
Thankfully, a couple of talented young men from Suffolk will soon be on the case.
Calvin Bowe and Kevin Wilson, both recent Chowan University graduates with degrees in criminal justice, aim to snag careers in the Department of Homeland Security or the FBI.
The two were good friends while at Chowan and had similar success in their studies and leadership efforts. They both stayed on the president’s and dean’s lists; both earned the Outstanding Male Criminal Justice Student Award, even though it’s typically given only to one young man; both were inducted into Order of the Silver Feather; both were leaders in the criminal justice honor society and multiple other organizations.
Both are now planning to continue their education and are earning work experience toward their future careers. Both are considering careers in law enforcement at the federal level.
Although they both went to college as highly accomplished high school graduates, we can’t help but think that their friendship made them even better college graduates.
“Me and him are brothers,” Wilson said of Bowe. “He’s my right-hand man, most definitely.”
Said Bowe of Wilson: “We’ve been close ever since freshman year. We started talking and became good friends from there.”
Proverbs 27:17 tells us, “Iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Bowe and Wilson are the perfect examples of that verse.
We congratulate these two young men and look forward to reporting on their future accomplishments.
