White graduates from pharmacy school

Skylar White, son of Gerald and Lori White, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy on May 13.

At the graduation banquet on May 12, 2017, he received the Dean’s Award “in recognition of outstanding achievement and unselfish devotion to his class, the school, the university and the profession of pharmacy.”

White was also recognized for his service as president of his pharmacy school class for all four years of pharmacy school. He is a member of Phi Lambda Sigma, the National Leadership Society in Pharmacy, and a member of Rho Chi, the National Honor Society in Pharmacy.

He will be starting a pharmacy practice residency at Sentara RMH Hospital in Harrisonburg this month.

Before pharmacy school, White graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from James Madison University.

 

Jones earns doctorate from NTS

The Rev. Wong-ya G. Jones Sr. graduated June 10 from Norfolk Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry degree.

His dissertation was entitled “Loneliness of The Lost – The Emptiness: The Psychological Effects – Spiritual and Mental.”

The ceremony was held at Garrett Community Baptist Church in Norfolk and was attended by many family and friends.

Dr. Jones is the son of Clifton Jones of Bowie, Md., and the late Beatrice Whitaker Jones, formerly of Suffolk.

 

Two named to UA dean’s list

Two Suffolk students at the University of Alabama were named to the dean’s list with academic records of 3.5 or above.

Jordan Taylor West and Lauren A Smith were among more than 11,000 students to earn the distinction.

 

Taylor named to Miami dean’s list

Wesley Taylor of Suffolk was named to the dean’s list at Miami University for the 2017 spring semester.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top twenty percent of undergraduate students within their division for second semester 2016-2017 have been named to the dean’s list recognizing academic performance.

Taylor is majoring in architecture.

 

Hill named to Dayton dean’s list

Suffolk resident Jeremy Hill earned a spot on the University of Dayton spring 2017 dean’s list, which honors undergraduate students achieving a minimum 3.5 GPA for the semester.
