Nansemond River High School’s cheerleading squad will host a Youth Cheer Camp in July.

The Lady Warriors have a youth cheer camp lined up for July 17-20. The NRHS cheerleaders and coaches will teach cheerleading fundamentals while also instilling team spirit concepts and confidence.

“Our camp gives cheerleaders, regardless of experience or skill level, a chance to improve their skills,” NRHS cheer staff said in a statement. “There will be a chance to improve skills by teaching motions, jumps, cheers, stunts and dance.”

Ages 5-14 and all skill levels are welcome to register for the camp. Camp registration is $100 per camper. Registration includes four days of instruction with individual awards, and the last day of camp will consist of a mini-performance for family and friends. It will also include a T-shirt and an invitation with the varsity team at a home football game.

The camp will start promptly at 5 p.m. each day, but all attendees are asked to arrive by 4:45 p.m. to check-in. Additionally, each camper’s parent must accompany them to check-in on the first day of camp so that they can sign a liability waiver. It is also encouraged to please have insurance information readily available.

All attendees should wear proper athletic clothing. There will be spirit days as well. Monday will be Crazy Socks day. Tuesday will be Team Colors day. Wednesday will be Wacky Tacky Day. On the last day of camp, it will be Camp T-shirts day.

On the final day of camp, all campers’ friends and family are invited to come in at 7:15 p.m. and watch each group perform the routine they learned at camp.

Registration will be accepted up until the day of camp. Only those registered by July 1 will receive a T-shirt. For more information or to register, email nrcheercoachtibbitt@gmail.com or visit nansemondcheer.weebly.com.
