Sylvia P. Brown

Mrs. Sylvia P. Brown, of Oak Street, Franklin, was summoned by God to claim her eternal rest and peace on June 28, 2017, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 17, 1941, in Southampton County to the late James and Emma White Perry.

Sylvia was employed with Rite Aid Drug Store in 1967, and she remained until retirement in 2004. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Buckhorn in Suffolk, where she served on the Usher Board.

She is survived by her husband, William T. Brown; three daughters, Catherine Jordan (James), Shelia Baker, Sharon Stegall (Roger); one son, Antonio L. Brown (Marlene); 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

On the day of service, Sylvia’s remains will rest in the church for viewing by 10 a.m. A service celebrating her life will be held at noon on Monday, July 3, 2017, at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deer Path Road, Suffolk, with the pastor, the Rev. Larry J. Parker, delivering the eulogy. The committal and benediction will be held in the church cemetery. A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M.
