Lafayette “Possum” Harvey, 77, entered into eternal slumber on Sunday, July 2, 2017.

He was the son of the late Sarah Elizabeth Ricks and Joseph Harvey.

A native of Suffolk, Lafayette graduated from East Suffolk High School class of 1958 and was employed by Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Lafayette leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Diane Harvey; three daughters,

Marion Williams (Lessie Williams), Belinda Williams (Charles Williams) and Wanda Knight; two granddaughters, Charnisha Williams and Kene Shields; three aunts, Edna Bivins, Marion A. Briggs and Frances Pittman.

Mr. Harvey’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at noon Friday at Piney Grove Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest at the church cemetery.
