James “Jimmy” Herbert Holland Sr. died at age 82 on July 1, 2017, at home in Christiansburg.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara; a sister, Ann Phelps; three daughters, Debbie, Patricia (Frank) and Cheryl (Ron); son, Jimmy; six grandchildren, Alicia, Jonathan, Chris (Julia), Kevin, Travis (Erin), Marissa (Aaron); seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Xavion, Emmerson, Kylar, Dallas, Noelle and Findley.

He was an Army veteran of six years, one of which was served overseas. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy. He was a true “Hokie,” hunter and farmer and loved watching Little League baseball. He was a loving husband and father.

A celebration of his life and refreshments will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. July 20 at Harley’s Haven, 15395 Bowling Green Road, Windsor, VA 23487. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. July 21 at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
