Miss Cornell Simpson departed this earthly life on July 7, 2017, in Burlington, N.C. She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Suffolk and Norfolk State University in Norfolk. She was a member of East End Baptist Church in Suffolk and First Baptist Church in Burlington, N.C. She worked at numerous places including WAVY-TV 10 in Portsmouth and WTVD-TV 11 in Durham, N.C.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her parents, Roger and Evelyn Simpson; her brother, Ernest Boone (Orga); her niece, Katina Adams; her great-nephew, Pierce Adams; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Darlene and Olivia Simpson.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at noon at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County St., Suffolk. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger and Evelyn Simpson, 306 S. Sixth St., Suffolk. Harris Funeral Home has been entrusted with the home going service.
