A shed at a home on Godwin Boulevard was destroyed in a fire on Thursday afternoon.
The fire in the 4600 block was reported at 4:59 p.m., and the first units arrived on scene at 5:06 p.m. They found the 16-foot-by-16-foot shed fully engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control at 5:19 p.m., but it did not extend to the main residence. The shed was declared a total loss.
The Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department responded along with Suffolk Fire & Rescue. There were no injuries.
The road was briefly closed in both directions, and traffic then alternated lanes and reopened at 5:34 p.m.
The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
