Flossie H. Bailey, 79 transitioned Friday, July 14, 2017. She was born in Suffolk to the late William M. Hicks and Christener White Jones-Hicks. She was preceded in death by her son, Dexter M. Bailey.

Flossie worked as a school nutritionist for 35 years in the Suffolk Public Schools system. She was a member of Mineral Spring Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lenton Stanley Bailey; sons, Darryl A. Bailey, of Durham, N.C., and Dean Bailey, of Suffolk; daughter-in-law, Mamie Bailey; sister, Dorothy H. Jackson; brother, Charles E. Jones; two brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and devoted caretaker, Shauna Williams.

A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, July 21, 2017, at Mineral Spring Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Allen Ray Hunt. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
