Dorothy Johnson Bober, 95, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin P. Bober; brother, Wesley Johnson; and sisters, Nellie Jernigan, Telzie Horne Joyner and Goldie Horne Leigh.

Dorothy was born July 27, 1921, in Suffolk. She was the daughter of the late Sarah Jane Holland and John Goode Johnson. Dorothy was a member of Suffolk Christian Church for many years and a member of the 1st Senior Citizen Club of Chesapeake. While residing in New Jersey, she served as Worthy Matron of Wall Chapter No. 143. She was also a member of Sinai Chapter No. 18, which is now Driver Chapter No. 149 of the Order of the Eastern Star until her death. For years she performed as M.C. of “Just the Two of Us” with her niece, Betty Peters.

Dorothy is survived by her niece, Betty Horne Peters, of Suffolk, and many, many other nieces and nephews.

A funeral with Eastern Star rites will be held at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Chapel on Friday, July 21, 2017, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.
