To the editor:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Suffolk Department of Fire and Rescue, the Suffolk Police Department and the Nightingale Air Ambulance crew for their support of our community and service to our family.

On Mother’s Day, our son was involved in an all-terrain vehicle accident at our home. We called 911 and got an immediate response; rescue was at our home within minutes. Our son was seriously hurt, and they were in contact with Nightingale and had them en route within minutes.

All of the men and women who came to our rescue were professional and very supportive. Our son was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and is now recovering.

In speaking with the Nightingale manager while at the hospital, he informed us that the dispatchers in Suffolk are some of the best. They ask questions and get vital information needed to provide care and get service quickly.

While we hope never to experience an event like this again, we are so proud of our community services and want to thank everyone who came to our rescue. We are very proud and thankful for the services that Suffolk is able to provide.
