Ruth Lamb Boone, of Suffolk, passed away on Aug. 4, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Daniel W. Lamb and Mrs. Jessie Clark Lamb, of Roper, N.C. Her husband, the Rev. Dr. Melvin R. Boone, preceded her in death. Mrs. Boone is survived by her beloved sister, Mrs. Joyce Lamb McNair and husband, the Rev. Dr. Nathaniel C. McNair Jr., of Goldsboro, N.C.; niece, Terri L. McNair Gatling and husband, Warren L., of Northern Virginia; nephew, David Boone and wife, Thelma; and C. Elizabeth Lamb Cuffee and husband, Joseph, of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and the Boone family, of Gates County, N.C.; cousin, Shelby J. Smith and husband, Thornton, of Roper, N.C.; goddaughters, Patrice H. Weaver and husband, Andre; Arvis Hall and husband, Thomas; and Sheranda Outlaw (caregiver) and husband, Brian, of Suffolk; special caregivers, Martha McIntyre, Ron McIntyre and Glenda Outlaw, of Suffolk, and special neighbor, Delores Johnson, of Suffolk.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, from 3 to 7 p.m. at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. The deceased will lie in state from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Her service will begin at noon.
